Question: Why did you unilaterally decide to appoint Mircea Geoană as the Social Democratic Party candidate for Bucharest City Hall, seeing as he was clearly unfit for the position (being Minister of Foreign Affairs) and also didn’t want it?
Seeing as my question proved to be rhetorical, I’m going to answer it for you:
Because Mircea Geoană represented a new current in the party, the opinion polls were showing him as the best seen politician of the Romanian Social-Democratic Party and I was snob and willing enough to be President of Romania that I preferred to basically use a crowbar against the party and the person who was fast rising as its future leader because I didn’t want to collaborate with anyone.
I’ve personally never seen Mircea Geoană more upset and silent than in those days. But you know that. Just like you know that he was relieved when he lost those elections.
