Supposedly my Internet cable is going to be passing through UTI cables pretty soon, cause it’s not OK in Romania for a competitive environment to exist (and for everyone to be allowed to bury whatever the hell they want, with City Hall providing just the damned holes, cause they’re good at burying stuff), and it’s better for there to be a monopoly with only one huge data company…

But wait… My cable’s not going to be the only one passing through there. The cables of the Special Telecommunications Service, as well as all those linking governmental institutions, will all pass through there. All will pass through a private company, which will be leasing out the “network” and which can do whatever the hell it wants with data transfered (as long as a copy reaches the destination, of course).

Now… If I worked for the Romanian Government I’d make sure that no fucking bit of government data would pass through such a network. But I don’t, and I don’t know anyone working in this field, and I’m also pretty sick to the stomach of all this typically Romanian stupidity.

Call me paranoid, but I remember when Zapp was informed to remove any and all support for telephony encryption (with the official reason being that users complained of “voices being distorted” because the decoding chip would get hot) just because it was too expensive for those legally allowed or not allowed but capable to upgrade their eavesdropping equipment.

PS: I would hereby like to thank those who eavesdrop on phones for having the decency to cause all those sounds despite the fact that their technology supports clean eavesdropping, cause they only do it to say:

Hey, we’re listening in. Don’t get pissed; we’re just obeying orders.
